What's on your workdesk Wednesday? http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/2010/08/whats-on-your-workdesk-wednesday-64.html This is what's on my desk today. I've been working on an accordion book for a friend. She was kind enough to show us around on our recent trip to France. She asked me to send her the pictures we took together, so I'm sending her this little book of our travels together too. Hope she likes it! What's on your workdesk today?

Um....$5 for a cardboard magazine holder?!!! I don't think so...

Image
This last weekend I went looking for magazine holders. I never really bought new ones. They just somehow ened up at my place...I suspect my husband had them before we got married. Anyway...I saw the price and I said...uh, no! I can make that for free! So I made this one: I used a cereal box and some shelf liner my friend gave me, I really like the pattern! I lined the inside with sturdy cardboard, cause the cereal boxes are kinda flimsy. I also lined the inside with more shelf liner to make it look more finished. It didn't take any time at all. probably half an hour or less. oh the starbucks cup to the left is not really coffee. It's my mp3 player! : ) Here it is full of magazines: I love it and I'm making more to hold my big sets of acrylic stamps. Come to think of it....I can make mini ones for my little dollar acrylic stamps....hmm....  I'm going to try and scrapbook on the next ones. Maybe add some flowers and ribbons, some tags for labeling.

Blog candy

Image
oh my!  How generous! Amy is giving away 1000 sheets of paper and some stamps. Check out her blog: http://athousandsheetsofpaper.blogspot.com/2010/08/1000-sheets-for-thousand-sheets.html Very cool of her, isn't it?

what happened to the bookshelf? and quick candy bar covers

Image
So here's what I did with the bookshelf: I used some of the sticky wall paper to cover the shelves and the front trim. Some of my scrappy things will be on the third and 4th shelves. As you can see I haven't finished reorganizing yet... A quick project: I made these wrappers for candy bars to thank my friends who helped me out with this bookshelf. I wanted to give them a little something...They love chocolate (who doesn't?). So I made it a little more personal. I made the wrappers using DCWV's paper stacks 6 and 7. I love these stacks so many papers in one stack with so many different themes and designs! I also used prima flowers and a star stamp. I made the wrapper on the left more 3D by cutting out coordinating designs from another piece of paper and sticking them on with foam dots. The text is done on the computer. Hope you're having a wonderful day :)

Blank Canvas

Image
So we needed another bookshelf because the ones we have right now are getting pretty full. Plus I wanted a place to put some baskets that can hold some of my scrapbooking things. I looked at a whole bunch of stores and finally I decided to give craigslist a try. I found one, and got it for $25! It needed a lot of cleaning but it was worth it. Now I can feel free to play with it as much as I want. The original plan was to cover one side of it with cork and maybe put some thin molding around it to make my own frame for the board. Now I'm thinking about stenciling some nice black scroll or swirl designs all over.  Here's the bookshelf all cleaned up! Then a friend gave me this beautiful shelf liner... What to do?....what to do?.... All I know is that it's so much fun to have such a big blank canvas to work with! Don't you just love that feeling?!

Me

Image
I've been scrapbooking for about 7 years, and I don't have a single page about me! It's time for one so here it goes. This picture of me is the one we took at work for the 2009-2010 school year. Some people tell me I have the pose of mona lisa. LoL! maybe it's the hands and the dark hair? I don't know... I added some of the thing I love to work with most, birds, flowers, ribbon and pearls. Oh and since the City Crafter's challenge this week is to include an image of a lady in a layout or card, I figured I'll enter it in the challenge too. Here's the link in case you're interested:  http://citycrafter.blogspot.com/2010/08/cccb-week-18-isnt-she-lovely.html . Supplies: K and Company: papers 'handmade,' and bird pin from 'olivia rose.' Basic grey ribbons 'oh baby.' Making memories brads, flowers, and transparency. Some Prima flowers and Kaiser pearls.

City crafter challenge #17

Image
I had just printed out this heart and was wondering what to do with it, when I saw the city crafter's challenge for this week! how appropriate! a heart challenge! So I decided to make a nice shaped card (which I don't do often). I made it for my husband, on the inside I listed some of the reasons I love him. My favorite part is that little heart dangling next to the stamped text. I hadn't planned on it, it just happened and I think it looks cute! Kinda like a heart safety pin! Check out their challenge at http://citycrafter.blogspot.com/2010/08/cccb-week-17-i-left-my-heart-in-san.html

My little lady card

Image
So browsing through challenge blogs, I found The Crafty Nomad's blog. She's a featured designer in the Just Us Girls challenge blog. She's giving a free digi stamp and hosting a challenge with it. This stamp is so cute and has so many possibilities! Go check out her challenge at http://thecraftynomad.blogspot.com/2010/07/crafty-nomad-little-lady-freebie.html Here's my card: I had a lot of fun making this card, I colored a few different 'ladies' and I thought this one turned out the best. I had scraps of these pattern papers left and I thought they would look cute with her outfit. I cut around the hands with an xacto knife and lifted them so she could 'hold' the sign. My favorite part is the tiny rhinestone on her necklace :)

Christmas card challenge #35

Image
The challenge this time is to use a non-traditional christmas image on a card. I looked through my stash and found these rub on winter flowers. I wasn't sure about using them at first, but I like the way it turned out! I really enjoyed making this card, it was fun. Check out their blog http://christmascardchallenges.blogspot.com/

CHIP

Chip is still at the shelter....Hopefully someone reading this will take a look at his pictures and fall in love. I found him on the street and kept him a few days, but i took him to the shelter when i couldn't keep him any longer. He's the cutest thing! He's so sweet and mellow, unless you bring him a toy to play with and then he's all puppy! http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/16732165
